Of Great Heroes And Brave Tales

Eternal Father, strong to save...
Written for us years ago
About the sailors on the waves
Defending us from our foe.
The hymn has always touched my heart
It's strains and soft melody.
From earliest youth, to be a part
Of the adventure of the sea.
The dreams I had in my younger days
By the wayside they all fell.
I never walked the glorious ways
Of great heroes and brave tales.

The Hymn sung, a prayer I gave,
My son's time now to go.
For Country calls, to serve and save,
The Freedoms that we know.
I hear the Hymn, and teardrops start,
Our flag waves in the breeze.
And I plead to God with all my heart
For my only son on the seas.
Youthful dreams are gone. I pray
Lord guard my son so well.
For I care not of glorious ways
Of great heroes and brave tales.  

Behind The Poem: 

Just simply a father's thoughts and prayers for his son's safty.

I to will be praying for your son and all the sons and daughters who give of themselves.I pray for their safe return..

You touched me with this poem.  I have served this countries Navy for 15 years and I know the pain of seperation and the pride of a job well done.  I had to add this to my favorites. I am honored by your words of love for your son and I know he will be safe.  Keep praying and supporting him.  For great heroes are just men that had the courage to do what was right. They were born of men that gave them the guidance they needed to do those things.  Loved the poem my friend.  You are very gifted in verse.

Thank you for those words. I am glad that you found my poetry touching.

Often my work comes from an aching heart, it seems. I pray for him and all our soldiers and sailors serving our country. God be with them and bless them.

I'm in some degree I feel for why you understand this reasoning to be so close to Heavenly Father.  I'm glad your so close and I hope for millions to help you pray for your boys
