How Do I Love Thee (Let Me Count the Shots)

PrintPrint

'Till the eyes close shut, I watch them rush

The love addiction of junkies is strong, but not tough

The two lovers race, and embrace in their vices

No judgment, reality, all fantasy, denial

Their heartbreak a magnet; abandonment, poles

Same craving for substance, that fills vacant holes

But what they all miss, is the hole's an abyss

A bottomless pit that syringes can't fix

In the haze, in the guise, of your "soul mates" shut eyes

You walk the streets to feed your needs and your guy's

Commitments come first; to your drugs, than your lover

I think Cain and Able shared more love as brothers

But when the Black Tar is burnt, and the China is gone

And the veins all collapse, and the streets aren't your home

You swear that you'll quit; that you'll do it together

But relapse and relapse

Will you ever get better?

Behind The Poem:

I understand.
