The Crack

i have a friend who loves the darkness, who writes destressful poems, and dreams in black.

she is a siniter little girl who never once wore a smile on her face, she says that its because of The Crack.

she cuts herself because she says the physical pain blocks out the internal pain.

I wait for her explanation, but all she says is that people are too inhumane.

She says that the world is an evil place, where men kill and steal from eachother.

Where sisters betray sisters and dicriminate against one another.

She says that this world is a terrible hell place and we will all burn.

She says we will all burn because of our mistakes that we continuously earn.

That being said, humans are humans, and we will never be anything more.

Which is why we must be ourselves and love The Crack as if we were at civil war.

This is why i dress the way i do, this why my poems are so maliscious.

It is because the world is evil, and i want to embrace that as if this pain was delicious.

But what is The Crack and why is it there? I ask to this girl.

The crack is everything dull and evil in this world, everything that doesnt twinkle like a pearl.

The crack can be anything, from murder to betrayal, from war to discrimination.

anything foul that you can think, use your imagination.

The crack is the source of every type of pain you can think of.

The thing is, The crack was created by you an me, it is somthing we made up.

Behind The Poem:

i was actually inspired by a song called "shadow of the day" by the band, Linkin Park. he doesnt make it very obvious but when i listen to this song, it always translates into the same meaning: that the world is dark and we are sinners so we must embrace that darkness. and with that inspiration, i created a character who is essentially gothic, and she has this obsession with darkness. almost as if she found beauty in darkness. And so that is what my poem is about.
