I Am Who I Am

poetry picture

I am not a racist
Never had and never will be
As long as I'm alive in this oasis
My thoughts are always flowing
And these I'm documenting
February
The month they celebrate Black History
Slavery, a thing in the past
And some boldly say, get over it
But how can I do such an injustice
Black, it is the color of my skin
Racism, it still exists
Discrimination, it is a prevalent thing
Go on ahead and deny me that position
I thought it was about personality
Qualifications and experiences
Personality, brihgt and beautiful
Education, I have it
Experiences, I have plenty of it
Light complexion, I'm lacking it
Don't pretend like you don't know the deal
You had to sign those dotted lines
I don't let it bother me though
It doesn't stop my eyes from closing when I want to sleep
I say a prayer every night
To a God who listens and sees everything
I know that day will come
When will all have to answer to Him
With all honesty, I will continue to love
And respect the oppessors
For God is love and He denies those against love
Supremacy = God Almighty
He is the Alpha and the Omega
I put my trust in Him
