Chameleon

mr mystic's picture

Allow me to bluntly say, there are two types of creatures: Predators and prey... Everything which is alive, has only one purpose: That is, simply, to survive... Now you can comprehend my unique constitution; genetic elements of evolution, and the marvelous mirage of my camouflage... Invisible to the naked eye, I remain motionless, silent as the clear skies... Waiting patiently for the next meal to slither by. Predators and prey, an unsavory reality, but undeniably true... Now which one are you?

Behind The Poem:

Life...as it is when stripped of all illusions.

What I adore about chameleons are their ability
to blend in with the environment...becoming
invisible...but seeing all others as they truly are.

Criminy!!! slightly creepy in the delivery, reminds me how often we are watched with out really noticing it. Great job handing out the willies :)

Thanks for your feedback...although I think you may
have taken this poem out of context. A true Poet
must become one with whatever he or she writes
about...How can one write about Love if they've
never been in love or are in love? Likewise, as I
decide to create a poem...I become the subject...
momentarily. But I'm just a Poet...and the best is
yet to come.

Truth be told I think I took this as how my life has been for a few years, so yes you may have become the beast for a few moments so that you were able to interpret through one, I have been dealing with one. Possibly I took it a way unintended, how ever as a fellow poet when something you read reaches you in any way you appreciate the artist's eye. Suppose I should have said that in the first place. :)

I understand, Simply Short...we all go through the
same stuff...just with different faces and places. I
appreciate your feedback very much.

We all are predators at times.

Exactly...and sometimes we become prey. Did not
the Lord Jesus Christ willingly sacrifice his life, so that
we may gain eternal life?

As pen hits paper I become one with the story unfolding.  I am the written word henceforth changed just a fraction from what I was before.  I love this poem

Touche'...Thanks for shedding light so I can see things
better. But I think we are speaking two different
languages...thus the ambiguity remains. If I have
offended you in any shape, form or fashion...please
let me know. The Wizard wouldn't want to write
anything that could destroy a friendship.

I am in no way ofended.  it is very hard to offend me, I have loved everything you have written.  people need to be stimulated more so they will at last become who they should be.  even if they disagree it still wakes up something inside them.  Keep writing and do it the way YOU want to do it

your words...But I do know this, I have always admired

The more you write the better your poetry gets. You motivate the motivators. Congratulations.

so undeniably true. Yet, that's life on this wonderful earth.

You are absolutely correct! Chameleon came about
as I pondered life...all life forms, and if we look at
nature...well, it isn't so nice at all...animals seek out
other animals to attack and eat...Survival. And look
at man...at us...History attests to gruesome acts...and
the nightly news is confirmation of the predator and
prey aspect.

Short but nice. The complexity of this poem might be a bit much for most. That is why I like it. Peace

Just for a moment I like to add a laugh or two by rereading something once read to me.Somedays your the windshield and somedays your the bug. Now with that being said I'd like to tell you what I got from what I read.Reality is the reality of all life forms and the years has taught both prey and predator. To be able to  attract or distract depending on its needs. To draw the other in or to send it else where. But regardless of which their eyes must always remain open. This is ether to catch or to keep from being caught. There is only one problem with this an that is the eyes can and will be fooled by the lie's we've all learned to hide behind.  Now are we the predator or prey?

Now this may not make any sense at all to you and that's ok as poetry is what the reader see's. I love your words and I do not wish to offend you in anyway shape or form..
