Slated
By Steph Morris

Why must I subject myself
Time and time again to this game
(We’ll call it cat and mouse)
Withering
Afraid to look you in the eyes
Admission of pure madness
Tears seemingly impossible
to subside

I sit alone
Inside
Dying once
Dying twice
Murder me yet again
For good measure
Here no longer exists a desire
Gone are dreams of unrealized hopes
To treasure

Mustn’t I preserve my sanity
Therein lies the answer
For once I choose my muse
Each verse saving me
From our beautiful disaster

No promises ever made
Yet it pains me to say
Friendship will never be
Enough
With dignity in tow
I reluctantly walk away

Deeply nice poem. We always

Deeply nice poem. We always want more and when that want is not satisfied it turns into this.
