What could be more basic, and innate, to existence than consciousness? Being aware and sensuous. Why would that not be the basis of all life?
When something discourages doubt and pursuit of knowledge, then only a fool can believe it. If a claim is sound, then it will not fear scrutiny, but welcome it.
