An Apology

Love is the best food for the soul OR
that's what i'd been raised to know
From a very young age as you & I walked through the snow
At the time we'd had such a long way to go
Sadly that was a time very long ago
And it hurts me a lot to reminisce
On all the times i most dearly miss
When we first met, or when we shared our first kiss
And when we sat gazing at the stars
And i said if we could, we'd escape to mars
Where there was no worry, no fear, no crimes
Just me & you together, forever, all the time
How selfish i had been, how quick to lie
With no regard to reactions, not caring if u cry
And I truly regret how i'd hurt you with hope
And though it nearly killed me, i eventually learned to cope
with myself and with my hellish deed
but now i ask, no, now i plead
I will legit get down on my knee
and beg that you can please forgive me
Because I realize though you've been crushed
I know i've stolen from you way too much
Your beauty, your youth, your spirit, your love
But more than anything in the world or above
I'd stolen from you your happiness
And I only want for you to forgive me
And let me return things to the way they should be
And im truly, deeply, regretfully, completely
