Despair/Betrayal

Chances once taken turn to ashes
With salt continually poured in my lashes

Pain that cuts into my skin bone deep
The blood washed away by the tears I weep

Never stopped loving you even as my world crashes
For you this unworthy heart dashes

Afraid to allow this faulty pride to break
Causing me to lose everything in its wake

I may be foolish for holding on to nothing
Maybe one day you will care enough about something

You may think I cared not enough
But where were you when things got rough

Hiding behind the mask you wear so well
The one you accuse me of wearing, for in which you fell

You left me to the pack of wolves’ consumption
Never loving me enough to look past their assumption

Broken down and wrongfully accused
I pulled back my faulty heart misused

You’re free to give your love to whomever you choose
Forget about this broken heart who was once your muse

when poetry speaks love's picture

painful but true real talk

painful but true real talk about how lust is not love to be mistaken for a feeling
to continue lust to hurt
