I'm Proud
I'm proud of
myself,
of my heritage,
full of spice
and color
I'm proud of
the streets
I grew up in,
the streets
that thaught me
how to be strong
and not to forget
where I come from
I'm proud of
my history,
the history
other people
the same race
as me
created with their
hands and hard
working minds,
the history I've
created
with my will
to speak out loud
for others
and because
I like to work
for what I have
I'm proud of
all the things
my people
have accomplished
I'm proud of
myself
for not letting
things get to me
because I was
raised like that
There are worst
things to worry
about
than what people
say about me
and about others
They can say all
they want,
but
I'm still proud

Well, although I am white, I can still relate to this. My family comes from a poor background and I have worked hard for everything I have. I can relate.

I am hispanic too! YAY viva nuestra raza!!!! but I love this poem, because I have had times of sorrow like this for people making fun of my uncle. He made some bad choices and people told me I was bound to go where he was going. This was really motivational and it lifted me up. share this with the world! I'm begging you! they need to hear this Cindy, ur great!
