Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, mirror over there
In the corner mysteriously aware
Like a giant eye ever watching
Reflecting back what you see
But what you think is what ponders me

You see me everyday as I say
“This shirt makes me look fat” or
“My hair looks a mess”
But a comment from you I never hear
With not even a peep you just continue to stare

A nod of approval or a word of suggestion
Would be welcome from someone who sees me so much
And a compliment when I’m looking good
Would really boost my confidence

Imagine how much more you’d help as I get ready for a date
Telling me which dress is more flattering for my shape
Or even as I prepare for that killer interview
Help choosing which suit to wear would relieve a lot of stress

But I know that it’s hopeless cause you’ll never speak
You’re only just a mirror reflecting back what you see
