The Fireflies

When money becomes the muse of the gifted
I shall cry you a vengeful river of blood
Civilization will fall to her knees
Mourning the loss of her inspired children
The fireflies that illuminated wilderness
Their glorious lights are forgotten
My condolences to flimsy hearts
The mighty warriors of truth have fallen

We are so close to the edge
Escape, waits impatiently
So close to sweet relief
We'll forget their names
As we frolic forever amongst the ivory skies

Sick with this compassion weighing me down
I pause, gawking at this horrific nightmare
The fools, have they forgotten their father?
His powerful words
Bound with mother's love and care
These souls drift away from arms extended
Wanting you
Needing you
Their life's work to mold you
Perhaps this evolution
Progression of man into the awful Goliath
Terrorizing the late bloomers
Defiant ones reduced to ashes
Their memories haunting, within every gust of wind

We are so close to the edge
Escape, awaits trembling
So close to sweet relief
We'll forget their names
As we frolic forever amongst ivory skies

Listen to the silent ones
Freezing in merciless winds
They likely know where true riches lay
Their lights, triggered by good will
Warms gestures of kin
Inspiring the crown masterpiece
Gleaming forever in the heart of history
We hunger for more
Fulfilled by the product of enslaved minds
Our eyes glistening at their passionate cries
I'll shout from highest peak, with fire in my voice
Demanding the release of the ostracized

Linger with me, just a while longer
Our time of glory will arrive in due time
Harbor the flame, protective and humble
Refuse the worldly treasures
Muse of timid hearts
