Used and Discarded

PrintPrint

Used and discarded,
my heart once again thwarted.
And on the horizon,
waves of jade threaten to roll in.
How did I end up here - AGAIN?
A different time and different place,
yet here’s the same story to slap me in the face.
Though it never truly was and never will be,
you knew how much you meant to me.
A simple distraction to fill your time,
leading my heart along as though I were blind.
The tender moments past that led me to believe,
someday you might just belong to me.
Instead you choose to return to she who once caused your pain,
so much you had no choice but to leave then.
I STILL can’t believe I’m here once again.
Not all was a lie - I know that to be true.
I know I saw your soul a time or two,
yet I still can’t help but feel simply…used.
