The Rebel in Me

If you put me down,
I won't cry anymore.
If you hurt me again,
I'll break all the rules again.
Hey, ever wonder why I fear getting in trouble?
Somebody broke the rebel in me.
I once was a rebel, but no one remembers the old me.
I remember the rebel in me.
They went and broke all the rules
By breaking me.
They never feared me.
They smelt the fear that lingered over my shoulders.
I'm not a baby;
I'm an outlaw.
I miss it all because that was me.
That was the rebel in me.
My spirit is crushed.
I'm afraid we can't save it.
I'm afraid of everything.
I'm afraid of the rebel in me.
I miss the rebel in me.
What ever happened to the rebel in me?
Life happened.
Bring back the rebel in me.
