i never lived the hood rat's life
I've never carried a gun or a knife and
I never had to smoke to get high
but thats what people always see when they drive on by
The truth is plain and easy to see
though I was not rich I lived luxuriously
I had a family that made me determined and strong and
they taught me if i used drugs I couldn't get along and that
living a life using drugs was just wrong
You see, living in Cambridge showed me some things
I saw easy little girls turn into mothers without rings
and one little girl who slept around a lot
and now she sleeps down in a parking lot
But I was a witness
I handled my business and
I told a girl she had to wait to get with this
Cus I had seen enough to know
That any mistakes turn your life into a reality show
but now I've done what i had to do
Ive jumped through all the hoops i had to go through and
My life and future both shine bright
I exude a most magnificent light
and about hood rats I can't say the same
Because a lot of them don't really know the game
They're just in it because they came
so almost all walk without an aim
So i've never had the hood rat style
though my friends all did and they will for a while
but I’m fine with sitting, and not being attested
because anything’s better than being run down and arrested
And though they say that whatever I do they can stay pace with
nothing's better than watching them falter when I make it
