for as long as i can remember

me I've been dodging relationships as long as i can remember,
and the worst time for me is the month of September.
that's when everyone I've ever loved died,
and more teas shed from these eyes than the beaches sands sees the tides.

I've been lost in my thought for as long as i can remember.
my birth was in the cold winter, late December.
my heart didn't automatically start to beat,
and i had this numb frost bitten body from head to feet.
and some how i made it to see 19 and that born dead,
grew to live life like a dream.

Me, I've been me for as long as i can remember.
fighting for survival from January first to the end of December.
and the flickers of embers in my heart will always burn bright,
even in my darkest days searching for some light.
i survived the fight, i took the pain and by passed plight.
so even when life was meek and i was weak,
i never bowed down on my knees, but i stood on my feet.
