Quake
I can't understand your language
Yet some things are universal
Bloodcurdling cries
as if the souls of old have been resurrected
It wrought havoc among the people
and yes it was unexpected
An infamous invisible hand slammed this tiny portion of earth
with the might of 1 million powerful giants
Concrete buckled
Nowhere to run to
Oh God where do I hide
Cars collide
Buildings burn
Bridges overturn
A grotesque pavement now constructed
Exposed steel, cinder blocks, body parts, and jagged rock
Yet the human condition won't allow me to listen
without feeling, without praying ,
without sending out a spiritual lifeline to those who are broken
Those who are buried and some still beneath the rubble
A mother is pleading for the life of her child.
As she strokes her hair and the lifeless stare who would dare deny
the crushing blow,
The anguish she now shows looking down
at her torn wrecked body.
The family who didn't see it coming completely overcome
and only one now lives to grieve
A gentle breeze travels through the land of dread, the smell of the dead,
gives a hint to the perpetual state of panic.
Rescue sweet rescue
The survivors smell it taste it are living off of its fumes
What else can you do but watch helplessly
Hope?
Love?
Pray for the people?
Yes rescue sweet rescue will come.
