Unbreakable

You knock me down and tell me I'm nothing
Somehow my soul won't allow me to believe the hype.
You criticize me and write me off
I just prove you’re wrong.

You dismiss my humanity when I protest;
Pretend you love me one day,
Spew vile verbal shards the next.
Barefoot, I walk upon them with my head high;
My tears are diamonds.

You are a counterfeit 100-dollar-bill,
Good for misrepresentation and cheap thrills.
You stole the bright light of innocence
with your cold intentions.
Serpents cloak your steps in every direction.

Guardian angels remained in place
You so haughty underestimated their power.
At that dark hour, the light dimmed--
Only briefly.
You were no match for the heavenly
Deities.

They cling to me,
They cling to mine.
What you sought to do
Let me not forget…

All your mental rapes, insidious acts
And deceptive traits;
I now know who you are and what you serve.
Beware the karmic chair
Your name is engraved
No escape.

Retribution will come as I have begun
to put the pieces together.
No longer a slave to the lie
Survive, mommy
Survive.

Pain gave way and wings were born.
We fly to magnificent heights and swoop down on you,
Mother and child a force to reckon with.
Just as the dragon was slain by the knight,
The transparency of our wings eludes your soulless influence.
Thank God for our quiet uprising.

One of my ex girlfriends

One of my ex girlfriends blames me for some stuff you have in this poem. I love reading your work. Keep it up.
