To Your Eyes
Who am I to your eyes?
My spirit hidden deep within,
My soul yet unrevealed,
I struggle now, how to begin?
Am I below you?
Do you see me as a smear
On society beneath you?
Or do you truly fear
The might of my being?
Am I a threat
To the future you’ve carved out?
Do you daily fear and fret?
Or do you see me as an equal,
A being level to your own?
Am I a friend
You’re yet to hone?
Or am I nothing?
Just another empty shell
That you dare not search beneath,
Just a demon out of Hell?
Or am I the opposite,
Someone that you need?
Am I there for your relief,
To reinforce your creed?
Whomever I may be to you,
It’s what your eyes do see;
Beauty is in one’s own eyes,
So how do you see me?
